Short-billed minnows (wobblers), with their silhouette resembling real baitfish, are globally popular lures used all year round at depths of 1-2 meters. In contrast, minnows designed for diving 2.5 meters or deeper do not seem widely adopted. While crankbaits are effective in all depth ranges, why aren't minnows?

To solve this problem, we set out to create a minnow that can be used with baitcasting (multiplier) gear at depths of approximately 3.5-4 meters. While typical minnows range in size from about 7-13 cm, we chose a 9 cm model. This size has the weight needed for the casting distance required for 4-meter diving, while remaining similar in size to the baitfish found in that depth range. We also emphasized the minnows' main advantage, slenderness, to clearly distinguish them from crankbaits.

One disadvantage of long-billed minnows is that they are difficult to cast. This tendency becomes even more pronounced as the size of the lip increases (to dive deeper). The Ashura 89EX-DR's double tungsten weight transfer system and its carefully refined body shape to minimize air resistance allow for long casts despite the large lip.

Movement is provided by the lightweight and strong Honeycomb body, and the low center of gravity design, resulting in excellent 'start-up' (immediate movement) and a fast, tight retrieve. The long lip provides excellent obstacle avoidance capability, allowing the lure to dive deeply at a steep angle and reach a depth of 4.2 meters. Even after diving, it maintains its depth during twitching and darts sharply.

Overcoming the challenges inherent to the genre, this slender, 9 cm body is capable of reaching depths exceeding 4 meters, representing an unprecedented value on the market.
