The short-billed minnow (wobbler), with its silhouette resembling a real baitfish, is a globally popular lure used all year round in depths of 1-2 meters. In contrast, minnows designed to dive 2.5 meters or deeper do not seem to be widely adopted. While crankbaits are effective in all depth ranges, why aren't minnows?

To solve this problem, we set out to create a minnow that can be used with baitcasting (multiplier) gear at depths of approximately 3.5-4 meters. While typical minnows range in size from roughly 7-13 cm, we chose a 9 cm model. This size has the weight needed for the casting distance required for a 4-meter dive, while remaining similar in size to the baitfish found in that depth range. We also emphasized the minnow's main advantage, its slenderness, to clearly distinguish it from crankbaits.

One drawback of long-billed minnows is that they are difficult to cast. This tendency becomes even more pronounced as the size of the diving lip increases (to dive deeper). The Ashura 89EX-DR's double tungsten weight transfer system and its carefully refined body shape to minimize air resistance allow for long casts despite the large diving lip.

For its movement, the lightweight and strong Honeycomb body, along with its low center of gravity design, is responsible for excellent 'start-up' (instant movement) and a fast, tight wobble. The long diving lip provides excellent obstacle-avoidance capabilities, allowing the lure to dive steeply into the depths and reach a depth of 4.2 meters. Even after diving, it maintains its depth during twitching (jerking) and darts sharply.

Overcoming the challenges characteristic of the genre, this slender, 9 cm body is capable of reaching depths exceeding 4 meters, representing an unprecedented value in the market.
