Ever since its appearance in the Korda Underwater series, filmed in Norton Disney, there has been huge interest in these Shot on the Hook (hook-mounted split shot) weights, and since the film's release, the use of this rig has boomed again.

The Shot on the Hook increases the hooking efficiency of any hook combined with a wafter, bottom bait, or 'snowman' rig. Essentially, it creates a heavier point on the hook, which helps it to catch more easily in the fish's mouth, resulting in quicker and more effective hooking, and more bites turning into caught fish.

These hook-mountable weights are made of pure tungsten, which has an exceptional density-to-volume ratio. High-density, pure tungsten allowed us to achieve significant weight with minimal material – thus creating a compact but suitably heavy hook-mountable split shot.

This reusable tungsten split shot can be used again and again. It has a small rubber coating that fits on the hook point and ensures the split shot stays in place. When you want to change the hook, simply pull it off if you are using a barbless hook – but if you are using a barbed one, flatten the barb before removal.
