As fishing waters come under increasing pressure (tougher), shad wobblers are becoming increasingly popular among actively retrieved lures (moving baits).

Their strength lies in their slender silhouette and subtle, tight wobble. They are effective in many types of water, but while the average diving depth of shads is around 2 meters, we wanted to extend this range even further. We sought a shad that could be retrieved in water shallower than 1 meter, without 'sticking' too much or digging into the bottom.The body size is slightly larger than that of a traditional Hi-Cut lure, 63 mm and 5.8 g, equipped with #8 hooks at both front and rear. It can be used with both spinning (fixed-spool) and baitfinesse (BF multi-plier) gear; our goal was to achieve the smallest size that could still be comfortably used with standard baitfinesse equipment. Although these are small wobblers, shads – unlike 'chubbier' crankbaits – are extremely sensitive to wind. After comparative tests with identical bodies, we chose a moving center of gravity (weight transfer) system, which offers several advantages. The SR (Shallow Runner) lip is short but set at a steep angle, so a fixed center of gravity lure would simply be blown away by the wind during the 'fluttering' (deceleration) that occurs in the final phase of the cast.

Furthermore, for good 'swimming initiation' (immediate movement) and quick reaction (responsiveness), we minimized the rails guiding the weight transfer system and thinned the lure body with the Honeycomb Super Body (honeycomb) structure. The weight used is a high-density tungsten (tungsten) ball instead of a standard steel ball, resulting in a 25% smaller diameter. The weight moves all the way to the tip of the thin tail section, stabilizing flight even in windy conditions and increasing casting distance.

The shape of the lip and the low center of gravity improve the lure's ability to regain balance after hitting an obstacle or 'fluttering out'. Its primary 'hunting ground' is at a depth of approximately 40-100 cm, with a maximum diving depth of about 1.3 m. We can easily control the diving depth (upwards) with the rod angle. Even with fast retrieves, it remains tight and lively, with outstanding responsiveness. When twitching (jigging), it shakes its head sideways without breaking towards the angler, allowing for a slow, in-place presentation of the lure.

The slow-floating setting allows it to attract fish while rising, and also to avoid obstacles. In open areas, depending on the density of snags, it can even be used like a crankbait, while enjoying the advantages of a shad. This durable SR Shad performs exceptionally well in shallow waters, not deeper than 1 meter.
