Korda - Basix Weigh Sling detailed description
NOTE: The BASIX weigh sling MUST NOT be used as a retainer.
This is a traditional weigh sling, but with some additional features designed to safely transfer fish from the water to the unhooking mat and back again, and to weigh them – it is not a retainer and cannot be safely used for that purpose. This weigh sling is made from durable nylon material and is long and deep enough to weigh carp likely to be caught in the UK, and can be used in many locations overseas too. It features strong, lightweight powder-coated two-piece metal bars at the top which add rigidity and make the weighing process safer for the fish. When not in use, these bars can be easily separated in the middle – they are elasticated – and the sling can be folded back into the compact stink bag supplied with it (the folded length allows it to fit inside the Basix Cradle unhooking mat or an external pocket on a Compac Rod Holdall). A strong webbing strap is attached to both sides of the bars and provides good balance once attached to the hook on the scales, allowing fish to be weighed safely. It has plenty of large drainage holes at the bottom, so if fish are transferred at the edges, in the rolled-up net, water drains quickly when you lift it out and carry it to the unhooking mat. A good quality, free-running zip at both ends of the sling ensures fish do not slide out during transport or weighing, and can be easily zipped up or down. The sling is designed to float to allow easy transfer of fish and the rolled-up net in the water – this ensures there is no need to lift the net, reducing the risk of splitting or damaging fins and tails. A step-by-step guide to best weighing practices is included in the Basix Weigh Sling box.
