When fishing for pike and especially zander, we often bait with fish slices. We usually threaded these onto a long-shank hook, which looked good before casting, but as we cast the rod and it hit the water, it clumped into a ball in the hook bend, as if we had never cut a slice from it.

The Kamasaki Baitholder hook has barbs on its shank, just like on the points of hooks. These barbs prevent the fish slice from moving on the shank, keeping it straight and neatly arranged just as we baited it. Thus, after hitting the water, a nice, spread-out, tempting morsel is available to the fish, much more desirable than a ball of fish slice that forms after casting a rig equipped with a traditional hook. Its steel material is not flexible; it sits well in the bony fish mouth during the strike.

Thanks to its eyed design, it can be easily tied, but we can also attach them to snaps.
